edgeX Background Introduction#
What is edgeX#
This tutorial will introduce the recently emerging edgeX——
- As the market's first MVP, edgeX adopts an order book model, aiming to allow users to enjoy the experience and unique trading features of centralized exchanges while self-custodying their assets.
- edgeX focuses on on-chain financial infrastructure for liquidity and trading, integrating the performance of CeFi with the security and transparency of DeFi, with the goal of building a complete on-chain financial system.

Security of edgeX#
The edgeX account system is built on the Ethereum mainnet. To facilitate users, it has integrated a recharge channel on the ARB chain with very low gas fees, and then transfers user funds to the mainnet for free through its own liquidity pool. This means that regardless of which chain users recharge through, the final funds are stored on Ethereum ETH, maximizing the security of user assets.

Step 1 Email Registration#
Visit the official website in your mobile browser. Note: Be sure to open it in a mobile browser, as the computer link may not display the email input box.
- Enter a commonly used email and click the “Confirm” button——> Enter the 6-digit verification code received in your email to complete registration.
- Click the “Android APK” at the bottom to download the Android installation package and install the app as prompted. iOS users need to download TestFlight first, then install the trial package.
- After installation, click “Connect” on the homepage and select “Email Login”.
Step 2 Complete Initial Recharge#
After successfully logging in, click the green “Recharge” button in the upper right corner to enter the recharge page. edgeX defaults to support low-fee Arbitrum chain recharges, and the platform automatically generates a dedicated secure wallet address, for example: 0x93c57911d2eE4B3cB9C12e31c3Be2f3eD71d52ba (your address will be different).
It is recommended that beginners recharge at least $100 to receive a 5-point reward. Points are valuable and can later be exchanged for token airdrops at a 1:1 ratio, representing a real opportunity, so do not waste your newcomer status.
Method 1: Recharge from Wallet#
edgeX is a decentralized exchange and only supports on-chain recharges. If you have a cryptocurrency wallet such as Metamask, TokenPocket, Rabby, or Backpack with a balance (like USDT), simply switch to the Arbitrum chain and transfer to your edgeX address.
Method 2: Recharge from CEX#

It is recommended that beginners choose Method 2, as wallets like Metamask involve cross-chain operations, which are complex and have high fees. 【Note】 When withdrawing from a centralized exchange, you must select the Arbitrum chain, and the address should be your edgeX address, with the USDT amount greater than $100 (about 700 RMB).
Step 3 Trade to Earn Points#
Once the funds arrive, you can start trading. Set the leverage multiplier (up to 100x), and choose the direction (buy/long or sell/short). Note the risks: While trading may yield point airdrops, it may also incur fees and principal losses. Do not invest too much for the sake of airdrops to avoid losses.
Step 4 Airdrop Points#
Click on the “Points” tab at the top to view trading points. Points are updated every Wednesday (UTC timezone), showing the total trading volume, points earned, and weekly ranking for the past week. Currently, there are fewer users, and normal trading can earn points (for example, 225 points, ranking 117), with fee losses of about $5, making it cost-effective.

I am a beginner and not very familiar with contracts. Does edgeX have spot trading?
Beginners are advised to try contract trading with small funds and low leverage. If contracts are not suitable, you can wait until spot trading goes live in February 2025. -
Can edgeX open both long and short positions?
You can create sub-accounts in your wallet to hold both long and short positions simultaneously. You need to switch to the corresponding account during operations for a good experience. -
Why does my wallet have a USDT balance but I cannot recharge to edgeX?
Please check if your wallet has a small amount of ETH on the Arbitrum chain for gas fees. If not, you need to perform a swap or bridge operation from another chain. If you do not understand, it is recommended to recharge from a centralized exchange and then transfer (refer to Step 2).
